As per G.O.Ms.No.4, Housing & Urban Development UD2(2) Department, dated: 06.01.2020. Government has permitted to re-organise the existing offices in Directorate of Town and Country Planning and create 15 new District offices in Town and Country Planning Department in each District. The existing Regional offices, Local Planning Authorities and New Development Authorities of Directorate presently functioning in the Districts are integrated and re-organised and renamed as District Town and Country Planning Office of the respective District. 37 District Offices are functioning under the name of District Town & Country Planning Office. Local Planning Authority and New Town Development Authorities are integrated in to the all-District. Joint Director, Deputy Director & Assistant Director of the District Town and Country Planning office shall function as the head of the respective district offices as well as shall also act as the Member Secretary of the Local planning authority/New Town Development authority that lies within the respective District.
Presently, the Regional offices, LPA & NTDA functioning in the respective District office, the functions are as below as
Local Planning Authorities. (LPA) has two levels are, Composite Local Planning Authority, Single Local Planning Authority,
Composite Local Planning Authority / New Town and Development Authority
- Encompasses one Municipality / Corporation and several other local bodies.
- District Collector – Chairman
- Joint Director/Deputy Director/ Assistant Director of Town and Country Planning - Member Secretary.
- Use and control of land is ensured through scientific planning.
- Preparation of Master plans / New Town Development Plans which are implemented in full scale.
Single Local Planning Authority
- Encompasses one Municipality/Town Panchayat
- Master plans are prepared for 89 municipalities.
- Administered by the Municipal commissioner-Member Secretary (for Municipality)
- Administered by the Executive Officer – Member Secretary (for Town Panchayat)
- Elected Chairman – Chairman
- Dedicated Town Planning Inspector / Building Inspector look after the planning approvals within powers
- delegated by Director of Town and Country Planning.
